Beyaz Peynir is the most popular cheese in Turkey. Beyaz Peynir, which translates to “white cheese” in English, is a brined and aged cheese made from cow’s milk with a taste that reminiscent Feta. A pantry staple in most Turkish households, this delicious tangy cheese is normally enjoyed from morning through evening, starting at breakfast, in savory and sweet phyllo-wrapped pastries and always on Meze platters. SütdiyarI Piknik White Cheese is made with pure (cow, sheep and/or goat’s milk?) and brined and aged to perfection. With a delicate, crumbly texture and milky, slightly salty flavor, our Piknik White Cheese is a wonderful way to add Mediterranean flare to salads, omelets, roasted veggies and pastas. Enjoy warm on flatbread with fresh tomatoes, oregano and olive oil. Or try it with fig jam, walnuts and a drizzle of honey. In Turkey, Beyaz Peynir is a classic component of Menemen, a lightly scrambled egg dish made with tomatoes, green peppers, chilies, white cheese and olive oil. It is also used in “pide,” (stuffed flatbread) and “gözleme” (the Turkish version of a quesadilla). Once you try SütdiyarI Piknik White Cheese, the culinary possibilities for this delicious cheese will inspire you. Because brined white cheese is low in fat and a rich source of probiotics, calcium and protein, you can feel great about incorporating it into your diet.❄PERISHABLE ITEM❄❄ Perishable items must be shipped using FedEx Express shipping only. Yufka is a round and very thin sheets of unleavened flour dough. It is used to make Turkish flatbread and pastries, and has been considered as one of the most important food items in the Turkish as well as in the Balkan and Middle Eastern cuisines. Some say that yufka may have been the earlier form of phyllo/filo dough. More specifically, Turkish yufka is usually made from wheat flour mixed with a little salt and water to form a dough. To make yufka, the dough should be made to rest for just about half an hour or so after it is kneaded and rolled into large paper-thin round sheets (very similar to lavas) by using an oklava, a long roller used to make yufka. After the large thin sheets of dough are done, they should be heated or baked on both sides for just about 2-3 minutes on a hot saç until they get a slightly brown color. The saç is a round shaped hot iron plate commonly used in Turkey for making yufka and flatbread.
